Terms
Simple, human terms for small-site hosting and services.
Issued by Ian Harvie — Administrator, 4Development.Net Ltd (Effective 14 October 2025)
Our hosting terms — the short version
Hosting with 4Development.Net means working with a small, hands-on service built around trust, fairness, and common sense. These notes summarise the essentials.
We provide tailored hosting and technical support for small businesses and individuals. That includes website setup, domain management, updates, and general maintenance on reliable shared servers. Every setup is agreed with you before launch and runs on a rolling monthly basis unless we decide otherwise together.
Invoices are due on the 14th of each month. There is a short grace period if life gets busy, but if payments go unpaid your site may be paused and old data cleared after 20 days. Clients who regularly miss payments may be asked to pay in advance.
We do not allow hosting for illegal, abusive, or offensive material. Anything involving hacking, spam, malware, or cryptocurrency mining is out. Serious breaches may lead to suspension or immediate closure.
Since all sites share the same infrastructure, extreme or unattended resource use can affect others. If your site starts to strain the system we will usually get in touch, but heavy or unfair usage may be limited automatically. We take routine backups, though you should still keep your own copies for safety.
You are responsible for using strong passwords, keeping plugins and themes secure, and following privacy and data protection rules (including GDPR).
Sponsored sites must include a footer credit linking back to 4Development.Net.
We can suspend or cancel services for ongoing issues or non-payment. Refunds are not issued if the terms are broken. While we aim for stability, no system is perfect — we are not liable for downtime, third-party plugin faults, or data loss.
If disputes arise we will try to resolve them informally first. If it needs to go further, Scottish civil law applies.
This plain-English summary is for convenience. The full PDF governs if anything differs.
At a glance
- Free domain covers the first year when you keep Plus for 3+ months or Care for 12+ months (standard renewal rates thereafter).
- "Unmetered" bandwidth means fair use; heavy or abusive use may be limited.
- Fair use: if you outgrow a plan, I'll suggest next steps early.
- No high-risk or adult content, spam/mass email, or gambling.
- Limited intake; response within the same business day.
- Uptime target ≥ 99.9%; nightly off-site backups with restore tests.
- Fixed quotes where sensible; otherwise a clear hourly rate.
